Interchangeable blinds

Outdoor blinds, as the name suggests, is a blind especially suitable for installation outside of a building or structure. These blinds have special characteristics to withstand the harsher weather elements than a standard internal blind.

There are several different types of outdoor blinds that are available, however, at Luminos Blinds we are manufacturing primarily the roller blind in several variations. We do supply outdoor venetian blinds, however, these are fully imported and are specified for larger projects.

Why are outdoor roller blinds required and what are their salient features?

Luminos Outdoor Roller blinds do not supply PVC Tarpouline type blinds with clear PVC windows.

All fabrics used in the manufacture of our blinds are fully tested and guaranteed to perform for the application it is manufactured for.

The Components are made of various materials from stainless steel, aluminium, nylon, PVC, polyester, fibreglass and other mainly non corroding qualities

  • Privacy, often an end-user would like to increase the privacy in an area.
  • Shading, this is usually one of the most important reasons for an outdoor blind.
  • Wind, often this is an important factor for ordering this product, however, herein lies the challenge of ensuring that the Dealer explains to the end-user that almost all Outdoor roller blinds provide a limited wind protection capacity.
  • Having blinds on the exterior of your windows is even more effective at keeping out the heat of the sun than installing just internal blinds. Without outdoor blinds the sun directly hits the glass and heats it up, which in turn increases the ambient temperature inside the room.
  • Outdoor blinds are usually not 100 percent waterproof, however depending on the material and the quality and weave of the fabric, outdoor blinds can be quite water-resistant. For external weather protection, one does not usually require outdoor blinds to be totally water resistant.

Vertisol

The Vertisol Polyscreen 550 Collection is ideal for external blinds due to the tough composition of polyester. This is the same type of polyester that is used to make seat belts. Vertisol Polyscreen fabrics maintain natural ventilation, whilst still allowing a view of the beautiful outdoors. Vertisol Polyscreen fabrics are 100% manufactured in the European Union. Vertisol Polyscreen is a highly functional vinyl fabric. This vinyl fabric is made of flat-woven polyester fibres coated in very durable vinyl. We have launched earthy, neutral tones of this fabric to our collection. Vertisol fabrics are excellent for large windows and compliment any house or office environment.

Basden

Our affordable out door fabrics from Basden offers the purchaser the option to install outdoor blinds within tight budgets. This collection is certified by the most recognised organisations to conform with environmentally friendly production methods. Free from volatile or harmful substances, disposal or recycling is safe. The 300cm width fabrics can be used in both directions with no loss of performance or effect. Available in three of the bestselling colours Black Panther, Darkest Tan and Charcoal Black, these fabrics carry a three-year warranty against the harsh South African climate.
